Movie Night!

So a few of the single girls at school have banded together and started getting together for dinner and a movie once a month. We've rotated between houses and it's been fun! Last night, it was my turn. Two thoughts popped into my head when I realized last week it was my turn to host: 'Holy Crap! I need to deep-clean my apartment ASAP!, and I've never cooked for anyone outside of Nathan, my roomies in college, or my family! What if they think everything is terrible?!' One of the girls is super picky with her food and hates sauce on anything. Well, crap. What am I supposed to do with that?! Hmm. I decided on Greek food. YUM! So the menu was tzatziki with pita for an appetizer, salad, Greek chicken (I just put Greek seasoning on it and baked it- no sauces, remember), couscous with tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta with lemon juice, roasted potatoes, steamed broccoli and roasted asparagus. We also had baklava for desert! SO GOOD! I went to Niko Niko's to pick up salad dressing, the tzatziki and the baklava because there's no way mine could be as good as theirs! I can only do so much. :) We watched Law Abiding Citizen. Crazy movie, good though. I enjoyed the girl time but forgot to take any pictures during our get-together, boo. I did snap a few pictures of the foods that I had prepped before it was time for the real cooking. I thought everything turned out tasty. Success! I'd love to do it again! Anyone want to come over for dinner?

Romaine lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, bell pepper, kalamata olives, peperocini peppers and I added feta at the end. I need to make that salad more often. Delish!

Couscous with cherub tomatoes, cucumbers, feta, and lemon juice. One of my fav things to make and snack on in the summer. So light tasting.

Baklava! Enough said!

Dang it!

Well, this week was not so good. I ate pretty crappy all week and didn't work out as much. I took pictures but deleted them by accident. Ha. I'll take new ones next week. Anyway, my weight went up to 135.5. I know I didn't eat THAT much, so it has to be bloating if you know what I mean. My abs are looking a little better so maybe some of the weight has come from the increase in strength training. Hopefully the numbers will be better next week. Pictures and progress update next week. :) Bathing suit season is on it's way! I have to stick with it!

Woohoo! I'm sure some of it was water weight so the goal for next week is to at least have it not go up. I'm also up to $10 in my jar. :) Let's see what progress is made next week.

So, as promised, I'm letting you in on my motivation today. I have a reward jar! I am basically like a small child still. I love a visual representation of my success progress. Give me a sticker when I do a good job any day!

For each workout I put in $1. I also put in $1 when I've eaten well all day and avoided the pitfalls of working in an elem. school. I'm up to $7 as of this evening. :)

The hard part will be deciding what to spend my money on. Shoes? A pedicure? A massage? Running accessories? What to do?! Any suggestions?
P.S. Do you think I can get my photos from yesterday retouched? :)

And not the good tiiight! The bad tight. The my pants don't fit and I'm getting a muffin top tight. After the half-marathon I relaxed on my diet and it shows. The lack of miles and lazy/relaxed eating habits caught up with me. I guess eating peanut butter (at least it was organic right?) out of the jar with a spoon will do that to you. Lame.
As of marathon day I was 122 lbs. which is the lowest I'd been since junior year of high school. I loved it. I felt like I could wear anything in my closet without hesitation and really felt good about myself. then I got to the point where I was last Friday: on the verge of a panic attack in my closet because all of my pants/tops felt and looked too tight. Maybe other people feel comfortable with a pooch but I do not. It was the final kick in the rear that I needed. I'd been 'trying' to eat healthier but it wasn't working. I'd still sit down and scarf dark chocolate peanut M&M's like I was going to die in the next five minutes.
Now, I'm prepared for eye rolling and nasty under the breath comments. I weighed in Sunday at 132.5. Not overweight I know, but still more than I am comfortable with. I want to get dressed in the morning and wear anything in my closet, not try on tons of clothes to find something that buttons with ease and doesn't make me feel crappy. I am very hard on myself, I know. I also know how much better I felt about myself before.
Picture time. I decided to do the unthinkable and post pics of my progress... in a bathing suit. Terrible I know. I did cut my head off because I just woke up and looked VERY unhappy. Maybe that would have made a better 'before' shot? I'll give you an update every two weeks or so. I've never lost more than .5 per week so I'm hoping to be down to 129-130 by the time school gets out. Why is it so much harder to lose it than to gain it? Moving on... I can't believe I'm actually doing this.
Please ignore the terrible running tan lines. :)

Tomorrow's blog... the reward jar!

I just about had a panic attack in my closet. It went from "ok, I've gain some weight" to "oh, holy freaking crap! none of my clothes fit how they should! i have nothing to wear out tonight. i hate myself for doing this! i can't go out tonight!" etc., etc. Needless to say, I'm not feeling good about myself and it's my own fault. I'll update tomorrow, and be warned, I plan to very honest with you and myself about what I look like and how it got this way in the past 3 months. Scary.
