Hello, Baby Kitty!

Do you talk to your pets? I've never had a "real" pet before getting Blanca. She is a little snot-faced brat but I love her as much as I think you can love a pet. To answer my own question, yes, I talk to my little gato. No, she does not talk back or answer my questions. So, I'm curious, do you talk to your pet? If so, what do you say?

Oh, you people that read my blog and never comment, I see you. I just put Google Analytics on my blog and I know who you are. Have a lovely day and leave a comment why don't you. ;)

Sure. Why not?

So after my AP has already done a walk through for a PDAS eval., she returns this afternoon and I'm wondering what the heck is going on. She informs me that I've been nominated for ?Teacher of the Year. I proceeded to laugh out loud. I actually laughed at her. I think of myself as a good teacher but I am in no way qualified to represent my school and move on to interviews with district personnel. There's TONS of paperwork to do and it doesn't seem like fun at all. Well, after she tells me that you have to be nominated by at least two people to be considered, she says, "So do you want to have your name on the ballot?" All I'm thinking is that there is no way I'd ever win this thing and I have teachers on my team (who apparently weren't nominated- maybe I should have remembered to do that, oops) who deserve this award ten times before myself. But out of my mouth comes, "Sure. Why not?" Now the problem is going to be if pigs learn to fly and I actually win this thing.

Shut-Up!

I'm going back to NYC this summer! WHOOP! Lauren twisted my arm for a millisecond to get me to go with her and a gal she works with. I'd go tomorrow if I could. I can't wait for a real vacation. I also can't believe I'm making this post at basically 1am. For some reason I can never go to sleep at a normal hour when Nathan's gone and when he comes back I'm out like a light at 10. No exceptions. He called late Saturday night but I wish I could talk to him everyday. I miss that kid.

Broke but happy!

I wanted to share my shopping glory! I planned on shopping during spring break and I hit the jackpot in a few places. I will admit that nothing I got was on sale but they did have some "2 for" and "Buy 1 get 1 50% off" deals that i got to combine with my coupons! I was looking for the clothes that just came out so I was planning on paying full price. I spent a lot but its all things I can wear a million times. I also got new sandals. In total I bought: 4 pairs of sandals, 2 cardigans, 2 t-shirts, 1 blouse, and 3 pairs of shorts. I have pics of a few things below!
From NY&C and I also got them in white.

YeeHaw!

Krissy and I went to the rodeo yesterday just because it was here and we had nothing else to do. We didn't go based on the performer but it ended up being Keith Urban. My absolute favorite part was the Mutton Bustin'. The put kids (ages 4-7) on sheep and tell them to hold on for dear life! It's awesome. I wish I was a kid so I could do it. Here's a few pics of the highlights. Enjoy!

Bayou City Classic 10k

Laura and I ran yesterday morning and it went well. Thank goodness it didn't rain even though it was freezing before the race started due to the wind downtown. I provided the stats and I'll post pics when Laura e-mails them to me. Her hubby came out in the cold to support her and snapped some action shots. We ran a negative split (the second 5k was faster than the first) so that's good and my second 5k was as fast as the 5k I ran two weeks ago. That's exciting because I can definitely start to push my 5k pace.

Place (age group) 30

Precipitation Issues

I'm running in the Bayou City Classic 10k tomorrow morning. It'll be my first 10k ever. The weather has decided not to cooperate. The forecast is 44F with a chance of rain, at 86% humidity. The 'feels like' temp. is going to be 39F with wind of 10 mph. No bueno. I went to Academy after school and got what I thought was a water resistant jacket (lightweight). I came home to test is and the water soaked right in. Great. I spent the next few hours fretting since I didn't know what to wear and I couldn't find what I was looking for. I wanted a VERY lightweight waterproof jacket. I remember that I picked up a race packet at this place called Luke's Locker in Rice Village. It was only 20 min. away so I decided to head over there. (I would have gone right down the street to On The Run but they have a more limited selection.) Anyway, when I got there I told the saleslady what I was looking for and she proceeded to ask me if I was running in the 10k tomorrow. People had been coming in all day looking for stuff. She took me to the sale rack where I got a super sweet deal. I got a $70 Asics Rapido jacket for only $25! Running clothes are highly specialized so I understand higher prices but I'm always looking for a deal. They'd put in on the sale rack since winter is coming to an end around here. Sweet. I love getting things at 60% off!
Here are the pics for those few people who care.

I need a POD

So, in case you haven't heard, Pearland is the new ghetto. No, I'm not being facetious. Some whacked out 21 year old has recently spent his time robbing, car-jacking, and killing people. Nice. Your parents try to move you out of Houston to the 'burbs and you decide to bring the ghetto-slum attitude and crime with you, awesome.

"They say Nicholas-Michael Edwin Jean, 21, chose de Jesus randomly in a crime of "straight up greed."
Jean is a Pearland resident who attended Pearland ISD from 2004 to 2007. He did not graduate from Pearland High School, according to a district spokesperson. Jean once worked at the Wal-Mart across the street from the shopping center where de Jesus was abducted. "

'Nuff said.

You know you want to.

I'm new to this giveaway idea on people's blogs but I'm entering myself in a giveaway for the first time. You should go check out this blog from Casey Clark but you should not enter to win. My chances are slim already and I can't have you making them any worse. Got it?

Order Up!

I'm really trying hard to eat healthy. Tonights dinner included brown rice, tilapia with my own sauce, steamed aparagus, carrots, and corn. Yummy! This is a Nathan-sized portion but it's kind of hard to make the fish any smaller. It doesn't exactly keep well, you know. I marinaded the fish in a little oj, grapefruit juice, and a dash of redfish magic. After I took the fish out I put it in foil and put the rest of the marinade in the skillet. I added more seasoning and just let it reduce while I got the veggies together. (The rice was leftover.) Anyway, it was tasty!
Today: 2 (one was an 8:06 mile!)
YTD: 60

I blame the media

In the spirit of things being whacked out today (my stomach, my sleep pattern) I decided to share a story about my crazy kiddos. So this afternoon, one of my girls walks up and says she found this note next to her cubby with a worried look on her face. I'm thinking "Awesome. Someone is calling another kid stupid, fat, ugly, etc." Not so much. On the front there are multiple pictures of stickmen in baseball hats pointing guns at each other with bullets spewing all over the place and the stickmen are all saying "Boom!" I'm still not too worried at this point because although isn't not appropriate for school, a talking to, a clip pull, and a note to mom can fix it. Well, then I turn it over. Are you ready for the language? This time a stickman has a gun pointed at another one and the bullets are flying toward him but the gunman is saying "Who is the bitch now fucker." Um, SAY WHAT?! All spelling correctly might I add. Oh yes. From a second grader. I knew it was from my morning class and I recognized the baseball hats in the drawing so I knew who it was. I flew next door and interrupt my partner to start ranting about how livid I am and demanding to know who did it. Selina was lost until I showed her, to which she joins in my fury. I don't always handle situations the best way but I don't think putting on the "I need to know who did this. It's very bad." sweet voice is going to help either. They had about 20 minutes until the end of the day and we told them to fess up or the principal would be down the next morning wasting my time (big no no) and asking each kid if they knew anything about it. Fingers start flying to two kids. One was my suspect. After school I ask the kid if he did it and he lied straight to my face of course. Like we won't figure it out and they be mad that you lied! Hello?! Anyway, Selina interrogated him after I went to after-school duty and he starts crying and confesses. I wrote him up after school and it will be interesting to see what they do with him. His excuse was that in art class this morning, "She said we can draw whatever we want."

I apologize for ny grammatical errors. I hate re-reading and type quickly in run-on sentences, just like I think.

Update: He got ISS for two days and his mom wanted even more. Boy is he going to get it at home! Poor kid. I've met mom. It's not going to be pretty.
